National Cask Ale Week

Natural ingredients and lovingly crafted . . .

Celebrate your National drink with a pint of local real ale during Cask Ale Week - 29th March -5th April.

Cask ale is finding popularity among younger drinkers and, increasingly, among women; the number of female cask drinkers doubled last year.

Paul Hurley from the Jersey Brewery has said “Cask ale is a fabulous drink – made from natural ingredients and lovingly crafted by brewers. It’s no surprise to us that cask is making a comeback! We welcome Cask Ale Week as a way to celebrate cask ale and the great British pub and hope that it encourages many drinkers to discover the delights of both.”

If you want to try a pint of local ale then take a visit to one of the following pubs:

In Jersey: The Post Horn, St. Marys, Cock and Bottle, Fridays and Five Oaks.

In Guernsey: Albion Tavern, Deerhound Inn, White Hart, Thomas de la Rue and Houmet Tavern

Jersey Brewery Launches New Seasonal Ale

Ambree is the first of four seasonal cask ales created by the Jersey Brewery, it will go on sale during Cask Ale Week and is a good excuse to try something a bit different. Ambree is the Spring Bitter, at 4.2% ABV it is an easy drinking beer and uses Maris Otter pale ale malt + Amber malt and Amarillo hops. This produces Crisp/Fresh/slight grapefruit and biscuity notes.

The Jersey Langtry Ladies will be sampling the local cask ales at a real ale tasting night at St.Mary’s Country Inn, in April.

This is the first of many ladies nights planned for this year, where ladies will hear some interesting facts that will throw the stereotype of a beer belly right out the window!
If you would like to organize a night for a ladies group in Jersey or Guernsey then please contact: Jo Reed on 01534 764009

Celebrate the Clocks Going Forward

The clocks went forward by one hour on Sunday 28th March 2010, officially the start of British Summer Time. We may have lost an hour but with extra daylight in the evenings and a long summer ahead, there’s plenty to look forward to!

Take yourself to one of our alfresco pubs and enjoy the sunshine outdoors with a glass of wine or a pint of locally brewed ale.

Daylight saving was suggested in 1784 by American inventor and politician Benjamin Franklin, to allow people to enjoy more light in the evenings.

Look out for the launch of the summer Rose wine selection in taste2day pubs. Four fantastic rose wines, perfect for alfresco quaffing at only £10.50 per bottle, or if your prefer try the yummy sparkling rose at only £15.00 per bottle, available over the summer, from May onwards.
